Ojai Camping is great fun.
For instance, Camp Comfort is part of the Ventura county Park system: www.venturaparks.org
It's about one mile south of Ojai on Creek Rd. The San Antonio Creek runs through the park. There is a small waterfall which provides a nice babbling sound to fall asleep to along with the croaking frogs.
There are 15 full hook-up and tenting is allowed.
Unfortunately sites 1, 7, 8, 9, 10, 14 & 15 are in the center of the loop and have no privacy but the best site is 11, it is is in the back corner of the park facing away from all other campers. It is next to the creek and a large open area.
There is no dump station however all sites have a sewer hook-up.
There are well maintained restrooms and showers and the whole park is remarkable clean. There is also a coin laundry room.
The nightly fee is $40.00 and quiet hours are from 9pm to 7am.
It is possible to enjoy some time here even without camping. There is a day use area with a playground, picnic tables, charcoal grills and spotless restrooms. For rent there is a meeting space and BBQ are as well.
The Ojai bike trail is 1/2 mile up Hermose Rd. It was built on an old railroad line so the grade is never too steep. Also, you can take it to downtown Ojai or go all the way to Ventura.
Check it out their web page HERE.
With over 400 sites, Lake Casitas is a great place to go camping.
Choose from a variety of site types such as lakeside, sites among the trees and some even on hillsides with long views of the lake.
They have sites that accommodate tents, tent trailers, campers and RVs and all come with picnic tables and fire rings and some with children's playgrounds near by.
